Exciting Learning Opportunities For Your School!

KidsTech is an award-winning innovative STEM curriculum that teaches kids to love science, engineering, computer science and more. We go way beyond most tech camps and STEM programs and teach current industry-standard skills.

Our programs have been offered virtually for the past year and can easily incorporate social distancing and other safety protocols to be enthusiastically taught in-person.

Our computer builds are also available in a Community or Family Engagement event format. The family takes home a computer to keep after the event. We have other programs that include robotics and more as well.

In 2021, GenTech is excited to provide 3 afterschool online courses for your students. Each course features 15 to 25 lessons that have been modified to fit new time frames for Spring, Summer, and Fall.

The coursework incorporates challenging real world technology concepts and engages students in online games, activities, quests, videos, interactive discussion and hands-on play.

What’s crazy is that the first thing kids do is take computers apart! Then they build them back up and learn how they connect to the world. In this course, kids learn computer electronics, operating systems, digital storage, processors, binary code, and networking. Kids critically think, compare mechanisms, troubleshoot problems and understand how machines work.

Kids will receive: A Dell/HP Desktop computer to practice with and take apart at home with guided instructions throughout the course. At the end of the course, students trade their practice computers in for a fully working, refurbished computer system, with software and peripherals to keep forever!

Cool Coding with Microsoft Minecraft EDU

Kids learn to code in one of their favorite environments. Minecraft! Start with basics of Minecraft, meet the
agent, build structures and solve problems. Save the turtle habitat, help polar bears reunite with families, and
restore wolf populations, all while learning to code using variables, loops, conditions and functions. This
course teaches the basics of Python coding, the most popular programming language in the world today.

Kids receive: A verified log-in account that they learn to navigate and fully explore the expansive interface and new worlds beyond the course given. Kids can then continue to investigate over 500 exercises and worlds on their own and advance in coding syntax, explore various programming scenarios and continue to advance their individual technical skillsets on their own. Because the Minecraft EDU environment is cross curricular advanced students might have an opportunity to suggest and mentor implementation into core subject classrooms.

Microcomputers are found in tech devices from cell phones to jet airplanes. They are sophisticated mini-computers that run circuits, operate machines and even control cities. Knowing how to program them is super important for the future! Kids will learn electric circuitry, code and create fun projects like building sensor driven thermometers, step counters, jukeboxes, alarms, timers and much more!

Kids will receive Parallax Micro-computer kits to keep: Parallax Microbit go 2.0 Board, I/O Edge Adapter, Feetech Mini 3.3V Servo, Breadboard, LEDs, Piezo speaker, 10K potentiometer, Resistors, 3-pin headers, Phototransistor

Learn the first concepts of cybersecurity, including networks, web applications, computer hardware, net infrastructures and frameworks, protocols, binary code and the OSI model.

Kids will engage in strategy competitions, capture the flag, ethical hacking and gain a keen sense of digital citizenship.  Exercises in how data transfers along with exploration in vulnerabilities of information in cyberspace are explored.  Very cool new camp!

Quantum computing is the buzz these days.  Well at least among tech geeks.  We have some super ideas to get kids jazzed and informed. They will learn the difference between classical and quantum computing and through GenTech become part of IBM’s Quantum Educators Program gaining access to run compositions (programs) on real Quantum Computers! All the while have fun learning about the crazy weird quantum world!
